PAST EVENTS
  • Oct 11, 2024:   A search for Doug Ford and Steve Clark:  A group of Kemptville citizens opposed to the construction of a Kemptville prison and the destruction of farmland and farm buildings, assembled to present Ford and Clark with the new University of Ottawa Environmental Impact Study showing the environmental impact that the prison project would have on the proposed prison site.   But Ford and Clark snuck in the back door of a facility where a $1000/plate fundraiser was taking place.   The group found Ford and Clark,  but these politicians ignored their pleas to meet with them.   However, one of the Ford's entourage agreed to give him a copy of the report.  As a result, Premier Ford cannot say that he doesn't know that:
    - Barnes Creek, a Rideau River watershed, will experience multiple detrimental impacts on water quality, the creek’s
hydrological functions, and the disruption/destruction of habitats for over twenty species of fish.

    - At least 70 wildlife species will be negatively impacted including several endangered species, including disruptions to the
species’ overall living environment and reproduction, as well as the destruction of feeding and nesting sites.

    - The construction of the EOCC will result in the loss of nearly 200 acres of class 2 prime agricultural farmland and existing
farm buildings, contrary to the Provincial Policy Statements protecting prime agricultural land.

    - There are also implications for land ownership and Indigenous rights, as the EOCC will be constructed on unceded and
      unsurrendered Algonquin Anishinaabe Territory
